The planning authority for this parish is Allerdale Borough Council (ABC).  Copies of all applications (and plans) submitted are sent to the Clerk and they are then considered by the Council’s Planning Committee.  The Town Council's comments on an application are taken into consideration when the authorities make their decision.

The final decision on planning matters is made by Allerdale Borough Council, either by their Officers, if a minor matter, or by the elected Council.
